Life can get loud. Stress, fear, pressure, responsibility, grief, confusion, and constant distractions can make it difficult to hear clearly. Sometimes the problem is not that God is silent. Sometimes the problem is that our hearts are overwhelmed by the noise around us.
In this message, Pastor Dallas teaches on recognizing God’s voice when life gets loud. Using the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, we see a prophet who had witnessed the power of God but later found himself exhausted, afraid, and discouraged.
Elijah needed more than information. He needed the presence of God. God met him with care, rest, nourishment, and then with a gentle whisper. This shows us something important about the character of God: He does not only speak in dramatic moments. Sometimes He speaks quietly, tenderly, and personally.
Recognizing God’s voice requires slowing down enough to listen. It requires knowing the Word of God, because God’s voice will always align with Scripture. It requires discernment, because not every thought, feeling, or opportunity is automatically from God.
God often speaks through His Word, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, through circumstances, and through wise counsel. But we must learn to bring our hearts into a posture of surrender. We do not listen so we can stay in control. We listen so we can obey.
The noise of life does not have to drown out the voice of God. Even in seasons of fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty, God still knows how to find His people and lead them forward.
